If you would like to adopt a pair or trio of babies from us (I highly recommend a trio if you do not already have rats as there are a lot of benefits to a group of 3 or more rats), please fill out the pre-adoption form below to be added to a waiting list, currently our waiting list isn't very long as we have had quite a few litters recently (also please make sure to message our page to let us know if you are interested in adopting as soon as you can, as sometimes our emails will go to your spam and you may miss out on adopting).
When the babies are around 3 weeks I will start sorting out homes and sending out emails. We cannot promise that there will be enough babies for everyone on the waiting list, Priority is given to myself and other breeders, and then adopters who have been waiting the longest. We have the right to decline an adopter if we don’t believe a home is suitable for our rats. To ensure the welfare of our rats, we require every adopter to sign our Adopter's Contract as well as photos of their cage set-ups at least a week prior to them going to their forever homes. I will try to sort everyone out with the colours and genders they want but this is not always possible. You can change your mind about adopting at any time, just let me know and I will find your babies a different future home. At any time after adopting the babies if your circumstances change we are always happy to take them back (However there are no refunds on adoption fees)
When the babies are 8-10 weeks old they’ll be ready for you to pick up. All adopted rats must go in at least pairs of the same sex except in circumstances where you have another rat of a similar age and gender. If you have older rats it is still important to adopt a pair to make the transition into your group easier. My adoption fee is $50 per rat which includes an adoption packet.
Please come prepared with a suitable travel cage for your babies!
If you live outside of Christchurch, we can send them on a pet transport (there are a few options which can be discussed). All petbus transport will paid for in advance by you, this includes a drop-off fee. There are more details about the pet transport options under info.
